When I was in the third grade, most of the boys and I typically spent our recess time either playing catch, shooting basketball, or racing each other. Although this was the norm, one day a few soccer kids convinced us to play their sport instead. Before we got started, they emphasized the most notable rule of the game: don’t touch the ball with your hands. The game went well for only the first 5 minutes. Once we realized there was zero chance of even competing in this foreign sport we altered the game. Without consulting the other team, we decided not only was it okay to touch the ball with your hands but you could also run with it as well. We began to score points more often and the game became much easier to play; however, I remember the other team mentioning something about us not playing by the rules.
Similarly, I have come to realize that Satan does not play fair. With him, there is only one rule: there are no rules!! The book of Job lets us know that he will attack our sons and daughters in order to reach us. He will also attack us simply to reach our sons and daughters. He has no shame. Satan is on a constant search seeking to kill, steal, and destroy but God has given us awesome weapons to guarantee victory in every situation: faith, prayer, and His word. The devil is a real presence in our lives but we still can’t fight him physically. The weapons we fight with are not from this world, they are from God and have divine power to demolish satanic strongholds. Satan will never play fair, but we can fight the good fight of faith. We must have faith in God, His word, and in prayer. James 5:16 reminds us that the prayer of a righteous man are powerful and highly effective. There is a saying, “No prayer, no power! Much prayer, much power!” May we have faith in God’s word and pray without ceasing.
2 Cor 10:4
Based on the scriptures provided, how can you prepare yourself for when Satan attacks your family?
